UPDATE: Huntington Water Main Break

Currently, the Huntington booster station has been powered down, resulting in low to no water pressure in the area. A booster station is an essential piece of municipal infrastructure as it increases/maintains water pressure in surrounding neighbourhoods. Due to the nature of the replacement, 10 Avenue SE between 1 and 2 Street SE is currently closed. Residents should avoid the area until work is complete.

Update to the Drumheller Flood Mitigation Program - Stop Work Order

Posted on May. 31 2021

Effective immediately, Mayor Colberg and Council have issued a stop-work order on all outdoor construction work related to berms associated with the Drumheller Resiliency and Flood Mitigation Office (DRFMO).

"The residents have shared their concerns, and we hear them. We will be pausing outdoor construction work on this project until we have more information,” states Mayor Heather Colberg. “To date, the community has not been properly informed about the project designs for the berm construction. Until these designs are released to the public, Council is not prepared to move ahead with any more construction on this program."

To improve community understanding, Council has put a new interim communications team in place with the direction to increase public information and provide more transparency to the residents.

In addition to the mentioned changes, Council has directed the DRFMO to clean up the tree trimming work started on the outdoor projects. This includes removing all cuttings from East Coulee to Nacmine, including along the CN Rail areas. Landowner consultations and engineering work will continue.
