The Badlands Community Facility (BCF) has concluded another facility upgrade to its user experience by installing high-quality acoustic tiles along the field house ceiling and walls.

The BCF is a multi-use recreation and cultural facility containing a library, a 5,500-square-foot multi-level fitness facility and small/large board rooms and banquet rooms. The fitness facility boasts a three-lane, 100-metre low-impact running track, a three-court fieldhouse, and a designated free weight and stack weight room. The space within the fieldhouse hosts sporting events, markets, and high school graduation ceremonies.

“We continued to get feedback from performers that the acoustics in the field house were challenging,” said Rick Ladouceur, Manager of Recreation, Arts and Culture. “We want to attract more music festivals and sporting tournaments and improve the experience for our daily users. We are excited to have completed this improvement to our space. We look forward to regularly hosting larger events in our field house.”

Sound baffling absorbs sound reverberation to improve the space's overall sound quality. This Capital Budget initiative was awarded to House of Stone Productions Ltd. for $92,000.00.

Ladouceur continues, “Since the improvements were made, we hosted the DVSS High School Graduation in the fieldhouse. The people in attendance noted that the sound quality was very much improved from previous events held at the BCF.”
