Please be advised of a temporary road closure on Thursday, October 31, 2024 from 1:00PM to 7:00PM. The affected areas are as follows: - Downtown 3rd Ave from 2 St W to 1 St E and Centre St. from Legion to Railway Ave. - Centre Street alley South of 3rd Ave between Trader's Furniture/Heller Good and Unleash Your Sparkle/Stores on Centre. - Centre Street alley North of 3rd Ave between Lois & Ani/Drumheller Legion and Napier Theatre/Old OT Plaza. This event is 4:00PM - 6:00PM.

Council Approves Capital Budget of $8.3 Million

At the November 21, 2022 Regular Council meeting, the proposed 2023 Capital Budget of $8.35M was unanimously approved. Additionally, a ten-year capital plan was reviewed, which forecasts the next decade of capital investment estimates for the Drumheller Valley based on the current and future needs of the organization and the community.   

“Each year, Administration continues to improve the capital budget process by making it easier for everyone to understand and forecast appropriate budgets to help make informed decisions for our community,” begins Mayor Heather Colberg. “Our financial team is strong and has made large strides to streamline this important topic.” 

The approved 2023 Capital Budget, which is approximately $2.4M less than 2022, comprises 39 capital projects in different service areas. The presented projects were identified as priorities to either deliver current levels of service or enhance current levels funded by grants ($1.4M), utilities, taxes and municipal reserves ($6.9M). This budget does not include the Drumheller Resiliency and Flood Mitigation Program.  

The $8.35M capital budget will be invested in the following service areas:

Parks & Recreation 

$1.58M 

Road Transportation 

$2.40M 

Common Services  

$1.07M 

Fire Services
