Effective September 17, 2024, a temporary lane reduction will be implemented on the Gordon Taylor Bridge in Drumheller. The lane width will be reduced from 4.5 meters to 4 meters to accommodate the concrete deck machine in preparation for upcoming night concrete pour for the bridge deck overlay. Pending no additional weather delays, the overnight work is scheduled to take place on September 24, from 6:00pm to 6:00am.

Only during the evening of the concrete pour and the morning following, the speed limit will be reduced to 10kmph, and 4 flaggers will be stationed on-site, 2 on the bridge itself to ensure a speed reduction of 10km/hr is implemented. A low speed is required to ensure the newly poured concrete does reach initial strength without cracking due to live traffic vibrations and movements of the bridge. Morning commuters will be advised to plan their route in advance to mitigate delays stemming from the reduced speed limit when crossing the bridge.

Phase one of this project is expected to be complete by the end of October 2024.
