Planning for the Festive Season in the Drumheller Valley is well underway

Posted on Oct. 21 2020

Planning for the festive season in the Drumheller Valley is well underway and aims to provide residents and visitors a joyful experience, despite COVID-19.

The Town of Drumheller is in the planning phases of several different events which invites opportunities for volunteers, vendors, not-for-profits, artists and performance groups to participate. The committee is looking for additional volunteers this year to make this festive favourite as safe as possible.

"We have a unique opportunity to utilize some of the unspent Canada Day and summer events budget during our festive season", explains April Harrison, Manager of Community Development and Social Planning for the Town of Drumheller. "Right now, we are planning to run 'Firework Fridays' at Rotary Park and 'Santa Saturdays' at the Plaza throughout the festive season. We would love to see involvement from our merchants and enthusiast groups to provide entertainment and participate in activities."

Harrison anticipates that 'Firework Fridays' will be hosted at Rotary Park each Friday from 4:00pm – 8:15pm starting November 27th and 'Santa Saturdays' will be downtown at the plaza from 2:00pm – 6:00pm. These events will run for four weeks, ending on December 18th.

"A series of these festive events is a way of making the best of a challenging year. Bringing the community together to celebrate the holidays safely is what we are working toward," continues Harrison. "We've put in a special request in to the North Pole for Santa to join us as well!" "

Vendors, not-for-profits, artists and performance groups that are interested in having a booth or in participating in any of the events should contact events@drumheller.ca or 403-823-1324 to secure their spot.
