On Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at the Drumheller Recreation, Arts & Wellness Exhibit, the Town of Drumheller will be hosting information booths and community engagement opportunities for two ongoing projects – a Wayfinding Signage Study and a Paid Parking Project. The Town encourages residents to participate and provide feedback and insight regarding how these projects can best be implemented throughout the community. In addition to hosting this in-person session, both projects will also be receiving feedback online.

Earlier this year, the Town of Drumheller retained ISL Engineering and Land Services (ISL) to work with the Town to complete a trail wayfinding study. For the first step of the study, ISL has created updated signage designs for use within the Town’s trail network. The Town is now gathering public and key stakeholder feedback on the design concepts to help update and refine them for Council review and approval.

The Paid Parking Project has been a collaboration between Administration and HotSpot Parking. In recent years, the Town of Drumheller has seen an influx of visitors to the Drumheller Valley. Increased demand has impacted various facets of the community, including municipal services, impacts on bylaw enforcement and strains on infrastructure and resources. Once implemented, the Paid Parking Project is intended to generate revenue to assist with necessary upgrades and infrastructure maintenance.

The pilot phase of the project is a way to allow our teams to properly evaluate the technologies and techniques required for this avenue of revenue support, as well as to provide residents with a chance to ask questions and become accustomed to the free Residential Parking Permit process. Through the implementation of this pilot project, the Town will evaluate and consider community feedback to further refine the project moving forward.

Both the ISL Engineering and Land Services and the Emergency and Protective Services teams will be present and available to answer questions and provide information at this community engagement opportunity.

The Drumheller Recreation, Arts & Wellness Exhibit is taking place on Wednesday, September 13, 2023, from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at the Badlands Community Facility.
