Town of Drumheller to Seek Public Input on Community Standards Bylaw Update
Posted on Mar. 4 2025At the Regular Council Meeting on Monday, March 3, Council approved a public participation plan for the Town of Drumheller’s Emergency and Protective Services Department. The plan aims to gather input from residents regarding updates to the current Community Standards Bylaw 06.19. The feedback received will help guide the development and priorities of the new bylaw.
Trent Kure, the Town’s Manager of Municipal Enforcement, explained that Administration is currently reviewing both the Community Standards Bylaw 06.19 (CSB) and the Tourism Corridor Property Standards Bylaw 04.19 (TCPS). “Our goal is to present a consolidated version of both bylaws to Council later this year,” said Kure. “Before drafting this bylaw, we want to gather community feedback on relevant issues.”
The public engagement will include a survey where residents can rank community standards issues based on importance. The survey will be launched at the Public Information Open House on Wednesday, March 5, and will remain open for four weeks, closing on April 2, 2025. It will be available online, and paper copies will also be accessible at the Badlands Community Facility, Drumheller Public Library, The Town’s Senior Services Coordinator and Town Hall.
Once the survey is closed, the collected data will be analyzed, and key themes will be highlighted as part of the draft bylaw's first reading, which is planned to be presented to Council on April 22, 2025.
A public hearing is tentatively scheduled for May 20, 2025, pending Council’s direction following the first reading.
