Construction at the Drumheller Aquaplex has been ongoing throughout the last few months, with work being carried out on a few different projects on site. At this time, due to unforeseen circumstances and material delays, the anticipated opening for the Drumheller Aquaplex has been moved to the third week of November. The Town of Drumheller will continue to work with all contractors on site to mitigate any further delays. 

Progress on the following projects continues: 

• Aquaplex Make-Up Air Handling Unit Replacement 

Due to some material delays, the fan for the make-up air handling unit and grates for the duct work are expected to arrive at site during the week of October 9, 2023, with installation to follow shortly.  

• Aquaplex Northwest Door Relocation 

The new Aquaplex door has been delivered and has been sent to be coated. Installation will happen shortly after.  

• Aquaplex Pipe/Void Inspection and Repair 

The work of removing concrete flooring was started by Knibb’s Construction on September 27, 2023, and it is anticipated that the new backwash system will be prepared for testing during the week of October 23, 2023. Following this test and the results are another two weeks of construction to backfill and pour the new concrete floor.  

• Aquaplex Sand Filter Repair 

This project can only commence once the Pipe/Void Repair is completed, as there is not enough room for two contractors to work simultaneously in the mechanical room. It is anticipated that the Pipe/Void Repair will be completed within the first or second week of November, and work to repair the sand filters will be completed the third week of November.  

• Rotary Spray Park Drainage Reroute 

A large majority of work on this project has been completed. Asphalt paving is scheduled for the week of October 3, 2023.
