The loss of these community members is tragic, including for our healthcare teams.

In Drumheller, AHS offers a range of free addiction and mental health services through AHS Community Addiction and Mental Health. Our AMH teams work hard to ensure services are available in a timely manner. Call 403-820-7863 to get in touch with our local clinic.

Services include consultation, referral, assessment, therapy, specialized services and education. Services are geared to the specific needs of clients and are provided by a range of professionals which may include nurses, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrist, addiction counsellors and others.

Adult Mental Health Services are available to individuals 18 and older. Children's Mental Health Services are available to children and youth up to 18 years of age. Mental Health Therapists in the community work closely with families, physicians and school liaisons to provide Children’s Mental Health Services. The Child and Adolescent Program also works with community partners to provide care to children who have a mental illness and offers mental health assessments, support during a crisis and access to treatment.

Addiction services for short-term adult outpatient treatment that may include individual, family and group counseling for those with alcohol, other drug or gambling concerns.

In addition, residents can access support from the provincial Mental Health Help Line, and the Addiction Help Line, which provide confidential support and resources to all Albertans.

The Mental Health Help Line 1-877-303-2642.and Addiction Help Line 1-866-332-2322 are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Individuals who may need support for an opioid use disorder can contact the Virtual Opioid Dependency Program (VODP) 1-844-383-7688.

Sadly, there has been an increase in opioid related deaths across Alberta.

You matter. Every life matters. If you use, don’t use while alone, let someone know or take turns with a friend so someone can help if needed. Do a test dose. Don’t mix substances. If you are using any substances, even prescription opioids, have a safety plan and get naloxone.
